It is mid-July and time is flying by like it never has before for me. One of my twin mom friends asked me once what had been the biggest surprise to me thus far. I hesitated because I really didn’t have many expectations, but my answer to her was and still is that I had no idea how fast the days fly by.

I am still staying at home with Catherine and Trinity who are now 9 months old. They are both crawling and getting around very well. Catherine started crawling about three weeks ago. Trinity just recently started. They went to their 9 month doctor’s appointment last week and their weights were 16 lbs 4 oz. (Trinity) and 17 lbs. 7 oz. (Catherine). They are average weight for their adjusted age of 7 months. Catherine has started to stand without any assistance, so I think she may be walking soon. My neighbor, Beverly, who watches them each Thursday, thinks that Trinity will be the first to walk, but the jury is still out. Trinity is definitely going places though. I half-way tease that she is a little Patrick. She seems to study the mechanics of things and when she does move, she does it very quickly. The doctor said at our 9 month appointment, as he checked her constantly moving body, that he has a feeling that when is about 18 months, she will be a “little pistol.”

They just recently started cutting teeth. As of last night, it has caused a little rift in their sleeping through the night. They had been sleeping 11 hours, and I hope that we can return to that soon. Catherine’s nose just started running non-stop, which I hear is part of the cutting teeth experience. We’ve had maybe a couple of runny diapers, but nothing too bad yet.

They are really beginning to entertain eachother, which has been a lot of fun to watch. They watch and laugh at one another, take eachother’s toys, and use the other as an object to climb.

Pat is working long days on “The Connector” in Grapevine/Irving just north of DFW Airport. The recent wet weather the area’s seen slowed them down a bit, but often he needs to use this time to catch up with office work. He leaves in the morning around 6 and gets home between 7 and 8 most evenings, but there are many evenings when he arrives after 8. This means long days for Mama, too. Fortunately, I have a very kind neighbor and friend, Beverly, who comes most Thursday afternoons to watch the girls so that I can get away by myself. This past Thursday I went to get my hair cut and styled. I wish I could afford to do this every week. The 30 minute blow dry/style is my favorite. So relaxing!
